Inspired. Motivated. Invigorated. Renewed. These are the things I strive to provide the students who come to my workshops. These are also the things that I hope to get when I attend a workshop. I enjoy workshops not only for the knowledge that I gain but for the camaraderie of spending time with other artists who share the same passions.
I just returned home from teaching a two day workshop in Lake Toxaway North Carolina. It was a fantastic two days of sharing and learning with a very special group of ladies. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and I want to personally thank them for all of their hospitality.
When I began the workshop I offered some advice to them for getting the most out of the workshop. It was my goal for them to leave inspired, renewed, motivated and invigorated. I didn't want anyone to leave frustrated or defeated. I suggested that they adopt a 'what if' attitude and be willing to try the ideas I shared. I also suggested that they treat their workshop paintings as studies. The pressure was off.
And I am happy to report that everyone worked very hard and were not afraid to try new things. And the paintings they did were wonderful! I was so pleased. And I had a great time.
Now I have repacked my bag and will be headed to Blue Ridge Georgia for the Fall Plein Air Paint out for the weekend. I love being an artist!

Speaking of painting with other artists, I am seriously considering joining the Great Alaska Plein Air Retreat Cruise June 18-25. I have always wanted to see Alaska and what a fun way to do it by cruising with a group of plein air painters. I need to find a roommate! If this is something you are thinking about let me know! http://pleinairalaska.com
